Job Summary

As a Legal Process Officer for the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), you will be responsible for managing legal proceedings and representing the agency in court cases related to asylum and residence law. Your daily tasks include processing incoming lawsuits, drafting legal briefs, and making remedial decisions in coordination with relevant departments. You will also file motions and issue procedural declarations such as individual statements of defense and evidentiary motions. A key aspect of this role is the regular representation of the Federal Office during court hearings. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's level minimum) in Public Administration, Public Management, Administrative Science, or Law (e.g., First State Examination, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent Diploma).

Experience

  • Professional experience in legal process handling or administrative law
  • Experience in drafting legal motions and procedural declarations
  • Experience in representing organizations or agencies in court proceedings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national and international asylum legal frameworks (ECHR, Geneva Convention)

Additional

  • Requires a successful Level 1 Security Clearance (SÜ1) according to § 5 AsylG. Applicants must not have had a previous employment relationship with the Federal Republic of Germany due to fixed-term contract regulations (§ 14 Abs. 2 TzBfG). Foreign degrees must have a statement of comparability from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).
