Job Summary
As an Environmental Protection Officer at the State Office for Environment (LfU) in Cottbus, you will play a critical role in enforcing environmental regulations across Brandenburg. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve monitoring industrial facilities, specifically livestock farming and waste treatment plants, to ensure compliance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG). You will conduct on-site inspections, evaluate technical reports and expert opinions regarding air quality, noise, and odor emissions, and draft official technical statements. Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent (University/University of Applied Sciences) in Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Process Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related natural science field; or qualification for the higher technical service in environmental administration.
Experience
- Professional experience in technical engineering or environmental sciences
- Initial experience in the enforcement of immission control, waste, and administrative law is preferred
- Experience in conducting on-site inspections and technical facility monitoring
- Proven experience in drafting technical statements and evaluating expert reports
- Practical driving experience with a valid passenger car license

Additional
- Valid driver's license (Class B) required. Applicants with degrees from outside Germany must provide a ZAB evaluation or ANABIN extract. Position involves both office work and field service (on-site inspections).
