Job Summary
As a Systems Engineer at QIAGEN, you will play a critical role in the new development and continuous improvement of complex, software-controlled electro-mechanical laboratory and diagnostic systems. Based in Hilden, your daily activities will involve enhancing automation platforms in areas such as robotics, liquid handling, temperature control, and optical detection. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of these systems, from initial requirements and prototyping to final verification and root cause analysis of systemic issues. This role is highly collaborative, requiring close coordination with international R&D teams and manufacturers to ensure production standards are met. Required Skills
Education
University degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Medical Technology.
Experience
- At least 2 years of professional experience with complex electro-mechanical systems in regulated markets
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, testing, or service of electro-mechanical systems
- Professional experience in product development or lifecycle management within regulated environments (EU/FDA)
- Experience working in international and interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with PCR or DNA/RNA extraction technologies is preferred
Languages
Additional
- Willingness to travel internationally (up to 10%). Experience with regulated design controls (EU/FDA) is required. Must be able to work in Hilden, Germany.
