Job Summary

As an Upstream Processing Technician, you will play a vital role in biotechnological process development by preparing, executing, and documenting cultivation processes. Your daily responsibilities include handling cell culture work in shake flasks and bioreactors ranging from 5L to 500L, ensuring sterile working conditions with genetically modified organisms (S1/S2), and performing in-process analytics such as PCR, DNA/protein analysis, and ELISA. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of a run, from media preparation and equipment decontamination to the expansion and cryopreservation of cell banks. This role is highly collaborative, requiring close coordination with Quality Control and Downstream Processing teams. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biology Laboratory Technician (Biologielaborant), BTA/BioTA, or a comparable qualification such as a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology.

Experience

  • Professional experience or training in cell culture, bioprocessing, or upstream processing
  • Experience in sterile laboratory environments (S1/S2) is preferred
  • Practical experience with bioreactors (benchtop and pilot scale) and laboratory equipment
  • Experience in molecular biological or analytical methods such as DNA/protein analysis
  • Professional experience in a structured, quality-conscious laboratory setting
