Job Summary

This permanent, full-time role (80-100%) in Freiburg, Germany, seeks a specialized Scientist to join Eleva's Strain Development Department. The core mission involves applying genetic engineering expertise to R&D projects, focusing on developing and optimizing constructs for gene expression, modification, or knockout in eukaryotic systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include independently planning, executing, and analyzing complex molecular biology experiments, troubleshooting technical challenges, and ensuring high-quality data generation compliant with ISO standards. A critical component of the role is providing full disciplinary and scientific leadership to two technical assistants and supporting the training of junior staff. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or a related field

Experience

  • Several years of hands-on experience in genetic engineering
  • Minimum 5 years in genetic engineering with a Master's degree
  • Minimum 2 years in genetic engineering with a Ph.D.
  • Experience with construct design for eukaryotic systems
  • Experience with data analysis, design of experiments, and sequence analysis tools
