Job Summary

As a Scientific Coordinator for the 'GenEvo' Research Training Group at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, you will play a pivotal role in managing a high-profile, DFG-funded doctoral program focused on evolutionary and molecular biology. Your day-to-day responsibilities include supporting the executive management in administrative tasks, overseeing strategic financial planning and budgeting, and organizing high-level scientific workshops and international conferences. You will serve as a central point of contact for doctoral students, facilitating communication between researchers, university administration, and external funding bodies. Beyond administration, you will drive public relations efforts by managing social media, web presence, and creating informational materials. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) preferably in Life Sciences or Natural Sciences, including a Doctorate (PhD).

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific management or academic coordination
  • Proven experience in financial administration and proper accounting for project funds
  • Experience in organizing scientific workshops, conferences, and guest stays
  • Experience in public relations, including drafting texts and creating graphics
  • Experience working within an international scientific environment
  • Experience in managing databases and preparing final reports
