This position is located within the Department of Electrical Appliances and Systems at the TU Ilmenau, focusing on a DFG-funded project regarding the DC insulation behavior of low-voltage cables. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for the design, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage experimental setups to characterize PVC cable systems under electrical, thermal, and moisture stress. Your daily work involves statistical test planning, data analysis from PDC and FDS measurements, and developing numerical models using RC network theory and COMSOL Multiphysics. You will collaborate interdisciplinary with project partners, publish research findings in journals, and present at conferences. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in High-Voltage Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.

Experience

  • Professional experience in high-voltage engineering, electrical engineering, or physics
  • Experience in the construction and operation of experimental high-voltage test stands
  • Experience in characterizing dielectric properties of insulating materials using PDC and FDS methods
  • Knowledge of polymer insulation materials, specifically PVC
  • Experience in statistical experimental design (DOE) and data evaluation
