Job Summary

As an R&D Scientist at Roche Penzberg, you will be responsible for the independent production of established synthesis processes and the planning of complex organic syntheses, particularly in the fields of nucleic acid and oligonucleotide chemistry. Your day-to-day work involves laboratory execution, including isolation, purification (specifically via RP-HPLC and IEX), and characterization of molecules for test development. You will play a critical role in documenting R&D results, supporting the creation of SOPs and manufacturing instructions, and ensuring all processes meet internal and external standards for safety, sustainability, and quality management. This position is highly collaborative, requiring close networking within global project teams and external partners. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to diagnostic innovations while potentially taking on project management tasks and mentoring team members. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or PhD in Organic Chemistry.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Organic Chemistry required for Master's degree holders
  • Practical experience in the purification of (oligo-)nucleotides via IEX preferred
  • Experience in planning and executing complex organic syntheses
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration within global project teams
  • Experience in creating technical documentation such as SOPs and manufacturing instructions
