Job Summary

As a Computer Scientist / Mainframe System Engineer, you will be responsible for managing business-critical mainframe landscapes on z/OS using Natural and Adabas. Your daily activities involve designing, developing, and maintaining complex technical systems, while bridging the gap between proven core systems and modern interfaces through APIs and automation. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of central systems, including disk and tape stations and CICS processors, ensuring smooth corporate processes. The role requires a blend of traditional mainframe expertise and modern integration skills, such as automating processes with Automic and maintaining middleware. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Computer Science (Informatik) or equivalent technical qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience as a System Engineer or in the installation and maintenance of ICT systems in a z/OS mainframe environment
  • Experience in managing server hardware, virtual machines, and storage solutions
  • Experience with the system programming language Natural
  • Professional experience in analyzing, optimizing, and automating workflows and interfaces
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or JCL
