Job Summary

This two-year postdoctoral position at the Institute of Material Systems Modeling focuses on advancing the open-source multi-physics simulation framework '4C'. The successful candidate will spend their days developing new capabilities in C++ and applying these computational models to complex problems in solid mechanics, materials science, additive manufacturing, and biomedical engineering. This role offers a unique blend of high-level programming and theoretical modeling within a collaborative environment where researchers work alongside in-house experimentalists. Beyond technical development, the researcher is expected to publish findings in international journals and present at global conferences. Required Skills

Education

Master's and PhD degree in Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Proven professional experience in code development and software engineering within a research context
  • Extensive experience in computational modeling and the theoretical foundations of engineering
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific publication in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience with C++ libraries such as deal.II and Trilinos is highly desirable
