Job Summary

As a Senior System Engineer for WAN, you will play a critical role in ensuring the digital future of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) by managing one of Germany's largest and most complex IT infrastructures. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the WAN transport network, specifically focusing on Layer 1 services including WDM and Carrier Ethernet. Your daily activities will involve monitoring network health, resolving incidents, and administering network components. You will also act as a key support figure in the problem management process and contribute to the technical documentation and optimization of internal tools and procedures. Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable vocational training in the IT field with relevant specialist knowledge.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in WAN transport network operations or a related field
  • Proven experience in network administration and configuration of network components
  • Professional experience in incident and problem management processes
  • Experience in developing and implementing internal optimization measures for tools and processes
  • Experience in supporting service development, architectural concepts, and release testing
