Job Summary

This role at the North Rhine-Westphalia Police Training Office involves the development and administration of digital learning platforms, specifically Moodle and ViMP. As a Software Developer and Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of learning management systems, from developing custom Moodle plugins to configuring course rooms and managing taxonomies for digital media. You will act as a technical bridge between stakeholders, providing second-level support, monitoring system performance, and ensuring high usability and accessibility standards. A unique aspect of this position is the blend of hands-on programming with strategic project management and user training. You will collaborate with external IT service providers and internal police departments to implement release changes and data interfaces. This is a permanent public service position (TV-L EG 12) offering long-term stability and the opportunity to shape the digital education infrastructure for one of Germany's largest police forces.

Required Skills

Education

Completed University degree with a focus on Computer Science, or completed vocational training as an Application Developer, or completed technical training with several years of proven experience in software development.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development is required if applying via the vocational training route
  • Experience in programming hardware or software and IT administration is preferred
  • Experience in IT support management is desirable
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and evaluating test plans for software systems
  • Experience in stakeholder communication and project management involving external IT service providers
