Job Summary
This role involves leading the Central Office for Identification Services, DNA, and Evidence Management within the Bremerhaven Criminal Police. You will be responsible for overseeing forensic identification measures, managing DNA procedures, and coordinating the storage and handling of evidence. Day-to-day duties include making legal assessments for identification orders, conducting forensic processing (sometimes outside standard business hours), and handling administrative appeals and legal proceedings. You will also provide expert consultation to the entire police force on identification and DNA matters. This position is unique as it combines administrative law, forensic science management, and law enforcement coordination within a modern public administration framework. Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Public Administration, Law, or a related field; or completion of the Administrative Specialist course (Angestelltenlehrgang II / Verwaltungsfachwirt).
Experience
- Professional experience in administrative or legal fields
- Experience in forensic identification or DNA procedures is highly desirable
- Professional experience in applying legal regulations and handling administrative appeals
- At least one year of relevant professional experience if the degree is not specifically in administration or law
- Leadership experience in a public sector or law enforcement context
Languages
Additional
- Must pass a security reliability check according to § 145 BremPolG. Must be willing to work outside standard business hours to support forensic services. German citizenship or eligibility for civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis) is preferred but not mandatory as employment under TVöD is possible.
