Job Summary

This prestigious professorship at TU Braunschweig serves as a cornerstone of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, focusing on research and teaching within the mobility sector, specifically aerospace engineering. As the successful candidate, you will lead research into thermally and mechanically highly stressed metallic materials, superalloys, and lightweight materials essential for future mobility and circular economy systems. You will be integrated into the Lower Saxony Research Center for Aeronautics (NFL) and the Open Hybrid Lab Factory (OHLF). Your daily responsibilities will include conducting high-level research, securing third-party funding, leading a research group, and delivering lectures. This role is unique for its interdisciplinary focus on cutting-edge topics like materials for liquid hydrogen (LH2) fuels, rocket engine components, and additive manufacturing, offering a platform to shape the strategic development of a leading technical university in the fields of digitalization, internationalization, and knowledge exchange.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree, an outstanding Doctorate (PhD), and additional scientific qualifications (Habilitation, Junior Professorship, or equivalent academic achievements).

Experience

  • Internationally recognized research profile in the field of materials science
  • Proven track record in the successful acquisition of third-party funding
  • Experience in establishing and leading an independent research group
  • Experience in the independent delivery of university-level teaching and lectures
  • Demonstrated scientific achievements equivalent to a Habilitation or Junior Professorship
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research environments
