Job Summary

This role at the University of Kassel involves conducting specialized research into the central carbohydrate metabolism of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. As a PhD candidate within the Molecular Plant Physiology department, you will investigate how these photosynthetic prokaryotes regulate antagonistic anabolic and catabolic processes under fluctuating environmental conditions and day-night cycles. Beyond laboratory research, you will contribute to academic teaching in the field of molecular plant physiology. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cyanobacteria—the evolutionary precursors to chloroplasts—as model organisms for plant physiology.
