Universität Kassel
Job Summary
This role at the University of Kassel involves conducting specialized research into the central carbohydrate metabolism of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. As a PhD candidate within the Molecular Plant Physiology department, you will investigate how these photosynthetic prokaryotes regulate antagonistic anabolic and catabolic processes under fluctuating environmental conditions and day-night cycles. Beyond laboratory research, you will contribute to academic teaching in the field of molecular plant physiology. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cyanobacteria—the evolutionary precursors to chloroplasts—as model organisms for plant physiology. The role is based in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team and provides a structured path toward a doctoral degree, supported by the benefits of the German public service sector (TV-H EG 13), including a free public transport ticket and extensive health and fitness offerings.
