Job Summary

This role involves contributing specialized expertise to patient-oriented diagnostics within molecular (hemato-)oncology and somatic genetics, significantly impacting individual therapy design. The Scientific Associate will be responsible for creating diagnostic reports, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to analyze NGS sequencing, somatic genetics, and liquid biopsy results, and integrating this expertise into routine diagnostics. A key focus is the innovative development and optimization of NGS analysis pipelines and the establishment of new analytical procedures to expand the somatic diagnostics portfolio. Candidates should possess a degree in Biology or a comparable natural science, ideally with experience in molecular pathology or onco-hematological diagnostics, and familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001/ISO 15189) to ensure the highest standards in diagnostic reporting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field; PhD welcome but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in (hemato-)oncological or molecular pathological diagnostics
  • Expertise in molecular biological and genetic procedures, especially NGS
  • Experience working with peripheral blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples
  • Ability to reliably evaluate somatic variants according to WHO and Tier classification
  • Experience in creating diagnostic reports considering therapeutic options (desirable)
  • Familiarity with genetic databases and analysis pipelines for somatic variants (desirable)
