Job Summary
This entry-level engineering role focuses on developing and implementing customized automation solutions for various vessel types, contributing to maritime safety. The engineer will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept and specification development to implementation and successful commissioning onboard. Key responsibilities include realizing solutions using platforms like PCS 7, TIA, and Ignition, supporting the development of new propulsion concepts, and creating simulation and training systems for automated ship systems (e.g., control level, power management). The position requires a degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with experience in PCS 7 and basic knowledge of SCADA and PLC programming (S7-1500, TIA Portal). This role is highly attractive due to its global travel component for commissioning and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge military and commercial shipbuilding projects, driving digitalization in the marine industry.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in project execution, engineering, and/or commissioning of automation projects (if degree is not held)
- Conceptualization and engineering experience in PCS 7 and SIMIT
- Basic knowledge of SCADA system architecture and principles
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming
- Experience in the shipbuilding sector (surface/underwater) is advantageous

- Willingness to travel globally for commissioning, customer meetings, and sea trials; Willingness to participate in military projects; Must not have ties to countries on the German state list; Willingness to participate in on-call support (maximum 2 weeks per year).
