Job Summary

This Research Associate position at the University of Rostock, within the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, is dedicated to the cutting-edge *BehAIve* project. The goal is to develop an AI-based, situation-adaptive assistance system designed to support the elderly in daily activities and relieve caregivers. The successful candidate will join the research group for Hybrid Methods in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (HAIML), focusing on developing and extending hybrid neuro-symbolic and neuro-probabilistic models. Key responsibilities include designing algorithms for state estimation and activity recognition in dynamic systems, investigating hybrid learning strategies combining gradient-based and gradient-free optimization, and conducting experimental studies using real and simulated sensor data. This role requires a highly qualified junior scientist with a strong background in data analysis and AI, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to disseminating research through international publications and presentations.
