Job Summary

This role involves joining the IT Competence and Service Center (HRZ) of the Justus Liebig University Giessen, acting as the technical nervous system supporting 25,000 students and 5,800 employees. The specialist will be responsible for the operational management, maintenance, and continuous development of central and decentralized components of hazard detection systems and Public Safety Digital Radio (BOS) systems across university properties. Key tasks include configuring, planning, and administering special extinguishing systems and early fire detection systems, managing external service providers, and providing 2nd-level support and consultation. The ideal candidate requires extensive practical experience in operating hazard detection systems, strong knowledge of BOS radio systems, and familiarity with access control systems and network infrastructure (TCP/IP). This is a full-time, permanent position offering flexible hours and opportunities to contribute directly to scientific and academic advancement.

Education

Completed IT-related vocational training (Fachinformatiker equivalent) or comparable qualifications

Experience

  • Long-term practical experience in the operation of hazard detection systems and telecommunications facilities
  • Practical experience in managing and controlling external service providers
  • Demonstrated comparable experience and knowledge through long-term practical experience, if formal training is absent
