Job Summary

This role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to public safety and digitalization across Germany and the EU by working on central, highly complex IT applications such as the National Weapons Register and systems supporting EU Smart Borders. As an IT Architect, you will be crucial in developing and evolving the software architecture for a complex system landscape comprising over 70 systems with stringent high-availability requirements. Daily responsibilities include piloting and evaluating new technologies, integrating DevOps and containerization into the existing infrastructure, and representing the organization's technical interests in national and international committees. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant university degree and professional experience in IT architecture, coupled with strong knowledge of agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban. This position requires proactive leadership, commitment to diversity, and the willingness to undergo a federal security clearance, ensuring you play a vital role in advancing public security infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or Diploma) in Computer Science or a related technical field, or a university degree in another field combined with relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience or knowledge in IT Architecture (required with Master's/Diploma in Computer Science)
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience or knowledge in IT Architecture and agile methods/tools (required with non-CS degree)
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrable professional experience in IT Architecture (with knowledge of distributed applications and complex system landscapes)
  • Professional experience in software development (beneficial)
  • Experience working in a government or international environment (beneficial)
