Job Summary

The Deutsche Bundesbank is seeking an Economist specializing in Sustainability to join their department focused on advising the Executive Board on all sustainability matters, particularly climate and environmental risks. In this crucial role, you will analyze the macroeconomic and financial stability implications of climate change and climate protection on the core tasks of the Bundesbank and the Eurosystem. A key focus will be on integrating environmental and climate risks into central bank models, monitoring national, European, and international developments. Day-to-day tasks involve coordinating the Bundesbank’s work for the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), developing strategic positions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing high-level briefings for the Vice President and top management. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in economics or a quantitative field, possesses excellent knowledge of sustainability, climate change, and green finance, and has experience with relevant econometric methods for assessing financial risks from environmental changes. This position offers an opportunity to shape strategic policy in an international, complex financial environment.
