Job Summary
This role involves cutting-edge applied research within the Fraunhofer Technology Center for High-Performance Materials (THM), focusing on sustainable battery systems, particularly the cost-effective Aluminum Dual-Ion Battery. The Research Associate will be responsible for developing suitable active and passive materials, advancing manufacturing technology for pouch cells (especially for corrosive electrolytes), and performing electrochemical characterization, including impedance spectroscopy. A key aspect is the coordination and execution of publicly funded research projects in collaboration with partners and customers. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, ideally with a PhD, and possesses relevant experience in electrochemical storage and cell characterization. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of alternative battery materials toward industrial implementation within an innovative and internationally focused environment.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or equivalent (Diploma) in Chemistry, Chemical Process Engineering, or a comparable field. PhD is desirable.
Experience
- Completed scientific university degree (Master/Diploma) in Chemistry, Chemical Process Engineering, or comparable field
- Relevant experience in electrochemical storage and its characterization
- Experience in physical and structural material analytics (Desirable)
- Experience in coordinating and managing research projects
- Experience in guiding and integrating students into technical-scientific work

- Initial contract duration of two years. Work week is 39 hours (full-time, part-time possible). Employment, remuneration, and social benefits based on the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD).
