Job Summary

This role involves actively shaping the development of the city of Mayen by managing and leading construction projects for the municipal wastewater utility (AWB). The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the HOAI (Fee Structure for Architects and Engineers) for new construction, renovation, and maintenance measures in the wastewater drainage sector, including associated administrative duties. Key responsibilities include supervising external engineering services, contributing to projects for new and conversion measures at the sewage treatment plant, and preparing technical statements. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, possesses strong knowledge of German construction standards (HOAI, VOB, DWA), and has at least three years of professional experience in civil engineering construction management, coupled with strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Required Skills

Education

Degree as a Certified Engineer (Diplom-Ingenieur FH) in Civil Engineering, or comparable qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering/Arts), or Certified Technician (Techniker) in Construction Technology. Certification as a Sewer Rehabilitation Specialist (desirable, or willingness to obtain).

Experience

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in construction management of civil engineering projects
  • Experience in project controlling (costs, budget, schedules)
  • Experience in the field of public administration (advantageous)
  • Knowledge in sewer condition assessment and evaluation (desirable)
