Job Summary
This role involves supporting criminal police duties within the Operational Deployment and Investigation Support division of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). The Specialist will secure digital evidence in national and international police investigations, making data usable for investigators. Key responsibilities include participating in operational deployments, providing IT forensic support in the lab, and developing innovative forensic methods and software solutions. Day-to-day tasks involve conducting IT forensic data analyses, securing evidence from various sources (e.g., cloud services, web pages), reconstructing deleted data, and analyzing communication and application software traces. The position requires a degree in Computer Science or a related MINT field, or extensive professional experience in IT forensics, along with excellent technical knowledge of computer and mobile technology and programming skills. Required Skills
Education
University Degree (Bachelor or Diploma FH) in Computer Science or a comparable MINT field; or equivalent vocational training and professional experience
Experience
- Completed university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science or a comparable MINT field with an IT focus
- Alternatively, completed vocational training with an IT focus and at least three years of professional experience in a corresponding field
- Alternatively, completed vocational training and at least six years of professional experience in a corresponding IT-focused field
- Professional experience in system-level knowledge of computer and mobile communications technology
Languages
Additional
- Must possess a Class B driving license; Must be medically and physically suitable for operational deployment; Willingness to undergo an extended security clearance check (SÜG § 9); Willingness to provide a DNA sample for inclusion in the BKA's internal reference file; Willingness to participate in on-call duty (2-4 times per year, sometimes spontaneous); Willingness to travel (5-8 multi-day business trips per year, predominantly domestic).
