Job Summary

This role involves coordinating the establishment and integration of a new Biobank infrastructure within the Medical University Lausitz - Carl Thiem. The Coordinator will be responsible for conducting needs assessments, market research, and developing concepts for the interim phase until the Biobank is fully operational. Key daily tasks include coordinating collaboration with central representatives (Data Protection, Fire Safety, Hygiene), managing IT implementation and interface coordination, and planning and executing staff training programs. A strong background in life sciences, medicine, or a related field, coupled with demonstrable experience in biobanking or clinical research, is essential. This full-time, fixed-term position (with potential for extension) offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of medical research infrastructure in a major university hospital setting in Cottbus, Germany.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine, Medical Technology, Public Health, or a comparable field. Additional qualification in Project Management (e.g., GPM/IPMA, PRINCE2) is desirable. Knowledge or qualifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 20387, GxP, GLP/GCP) is advantageous.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in biobanks, clinical research, or laboratory organization
  • Experience in planning and implementation of construction or infrastructure projects in the scientific-medical environment is advantageous

Additional

  • Fixed-term contract until December 31, 2028, corresponding to the duration of the Biobank setup project, with the option for extension. Must be familiar with national and international biobank standards (e.g., BBMRI-ERIC, ISO 20387, GBN position paper) and regulatory requirements (e.g., TRBA 100, TRBA 250).
