Job Summary

This role is based at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II), a high-performance, modern facility operated by the Technical University of Munich. The IT Security Specialist will be crucial in implementing security requirements derived from the SEWD-IT directive, focusing on the operational IT systems and diverse networks, including highly specialized control systems for the FRM II. Daily tasks involve maintaining, developing, and administratively supporting complex IT system changes, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and new technologies. A core responsibility is defining and implementing strict IT security measures, minimizing system functionality to essential requirements, configuring network interfaces, managing role-based access, and overseeing security in vendor relationships. The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in IT, expertise in security standards for critical infrastructure (especially nuclear energy/radioactive materials), and comprehensive knowledge of BSI IT Baseline Protection guidelines, ensuring the facility maintains its high safety standards.

Experience

  • Professional experience with security standards and processes applied to critical infrastructure and the protection of radioactive materials (including testing, monitoring, and emergency preparedness)
  • Knowledge of attacker scenarios, especially concerning privileged access
  • Comprehensive knowledge of documentation and creation of security measures in IT Security Handbooks
  • Experience with specific requirements for safety-critical areas like nuclear energy or the transport of radioactive materials
  • Experience collaborating with regulatory authorities and their appointed experts
