Job Summary

This fixed-term 3.5-year position as an Academic Research Associate and PhD Candidate (65% FTE) at the University Hospital Würzburg offers an exceptional opportunity within a DFG-funded Transregio Collaborative Research Centre. The core focus is on translational cancer research, investigating the impact of steroid hormones on cancer immunity, specifically in adrenocortical carcinoma, and developing optimized CAR-T cell therapies. Day-to-day responsibilities include the independent planning, execution, and rigorous evaluation of cellular, molecular, and (animal) studies. Candidates will apply cutting-edge techniques such as CAR-T cell technology and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. The role requires a very strong academic background (Master's/Diploma) in life sciences like Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Medicine, coupled with a high degree of motivation and teamwork skills. Excellent written and spoken English (C1 level) is mandatory.

Required Skills

Education

Very well completed university degree (Master's, Diploma, or State Examination) in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, or a related natural science/molecular field. Enrollment in a structured PhD program required.

Experience

  • Professional experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating scientific studies
  • Experience in molecular or cell biological methods is advantageous
  • Experience applying modern immunotherapy and gene-editing technologies (CAR-T, CRISPR/Cas9)
