Research Associate / Postdoctoral Researcher (Biology/Biochemistry) | Wissenschaftliche:r Mitarbeiter:in (m/w/d), EG 13 TV-H
Universität Kassel
Job Summary
This is a full-time, fixed-term Research Associate position until March 2032, offering the unique opportunity for Habilitation, focusing on cutting-edge sustainable energy research. The successful candidate will be an intrinsically motivated scientist passionate about photosynthetic hydrogen production in cyanobacteria. Day-to-day tasks involve optimizing the production of 'PhotoH2' by genetically modifying cyanobacteria, specifically focusing on enhancing electron transfer between Photosystem I (PSI) and Hydrogenase (H2ase). The role requires addressing the oxygen sensitivity of H2ase and ensuring the cyanobacteria maintain their carbohydrate metabolism for effective CO2 fixation. Essential qualifications include a successfully completed PhD in Biology or Biochemistry and a strong background in molecular biology and protein design. This position is ideal for an organized, independent researcher looking to contribute their biochemical expertise and innovative ideas to a critical environmental technology project.
