Job Summary

This part-time (50%) Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate position at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry, University of Göttingen, offers a unique opportunity to pursue a PhD over three years, starting April 1, 2026. The core focus of the project involves the synthesis and comprehensive characterization of low- and high-valent compounds of heavier p-block elements, particularly Tetrels, within structurally distorted coordination environments. Day-to-day tasks include innovative ligand design, performing complex chemical syntheses under strict inert conditions, and conducting detailed spectroscopic analysis (NMR, X-ray, UV/Vis). The successful candidate will also perform reactivity studies aimed at developing novel catalytic applications, emphasizing mechanistic understanding. Candidates must hold an above-average Master's degree in Chemistry and possess extensive practical experience handling air- and hydrolysis-sensitive compounds. The role requires strong independent scientific work capabilities and excellent proficiency in both German and English.
