Job Summary

This role involves co-leading the VEGAS Analytical Laboratory and providing chemical-analytical support for innovative research projects focused on flow, transport, and reaction processes in porous media, particularly concerning soil and groundwater contamination and subsurface heat propagation. The Co-Lead will be responsible for organizing analysis tasks, developing new analytical methods, and generating scientific ideas that translate into research proposals and publications. Day-to-day tasks include routine application of wet chemical and modern instrumental analytical methods, managing a team of technical assistants, and active involvement in teaching and student supervision (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD). The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a relevant chemical or environmental science field, possesses proven research capabilities, and is adept at working collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams (Geohydrology, Chemistry, Engineering) to acquire third-party funding and transfer knowledge to industry and public administration.

Required Skills

Education

Completed PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering

Experience

  • Experience in the routine application of wet chemical and instrumental analytical methods
  • Proven ability to conduct independent, creative, and innovative research
  • Experience in research projects concerning the transport and fate of pollutants in the environment (Advantageous)
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) (Desirable)
