Job Summary

This role involves working as an IT Specialist or Computer Scientist within the Cybercrime Competence Center of the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of North Rhine-Westphalia. The core responsibilities focus on Telecommunications Surveillance (TKÜ) and IT surveillance, specifically handling non-standardized measures. Day-to-day tasks include developing, analyzing, and applying IT applications for surveillance, conducting forensic examinations of non-decoded or encrypted data, and evolving forensic investigation methods. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field, coupled with fundamental knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems (Linux, Windows, Android, iOS), and network security. Successful candidates will also participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure continuous operation of the TKÜ administration, contributing significantly to crime prevention and investigation in NRW.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent university degree in Computer Science or comparable technical fields (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Natural Sciences)

Experience

  • Professional experience in telecommunications surveillance/information technology surveillance
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience is desirable for higher pay grade (EG 12 TV-L)
  • Experience in handling non-standardized IT surveillance measures

Additional

  • Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call duty (Rufbereitschaft) for TKÜ administration; Commitment to remain in the function for a minimum duration of three years; Must successfully complete a six-month probationary period (if applicable to civil servants).
