Job Summary

This role is for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Expert Council for Climate Issues, focusing on data analysis related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the building sector. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing quantitative analyses of GHG emissions using tools like R, Python, and Excel, and evaluating the effectiveness and social impacts of climate policy measures proposed by the Federal Government. The associate will conduct ex-ante and ex-post impact assessments, scrutinize the accuracy and plausibility of data, and evaluate annual emission estimates and projections provided by the UBA. A critical component involves drafting reports, statements, and graphics for the Council, requiring excellent communication and precision. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a scientific or related field, professional experience in GHG mitigation (preferably in the building sector), and fluency in both German and English. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to Germany's climate policy framework.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's, University Diploma) in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Political Science, or comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience regarding greenhouse gas emissions and mitigation measures (preferably in the building sector)
  • Professional experience in applying statistical and econometric methods
  • Professional experience in the analysis of climate policy instruments
