Job Summary

This is a pivotal role within Dortmund's Urban Drainage department, focusing on the critical area of private property connection pipelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing investigation videos, classifying damages based on reference catalogs, and providing expert on-site consultation to property owners regarding repair options, backflow protection, and rainwater management. A core function involves ensuring the early consideration and investigation of private connection pipelines during public sewer construction and renovation projects to maximize synergy effects and prevent costly, difficult repairs later. This position requires strong technical knowledge in water management and excellent communication skills to inform and advise non-specialists, actively shaping processes and contributing to a stable, fully rehabilitated sewer network for a sustainable Dortmund.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Civil Engineering (specialization: Urban Water Management), Environmental Engineering, Supply and Disposal Technology, Water Sciences, or Sustainable Development. Alternatively, qualification as a civil service official (Laufbahngruppe 2, 1. Einstiegsamt) or equivalent long-term professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in assessing and classifying damage patterns and rehabilitating private wastewater systems (preferred, but training available)
  • Long-term, demonstrable professional experience as a Sewer Master or Technician in sewer rehabilitation and damage classification of private wastewater pipes (alternative requirement for non-graduates)
