Job Summary

The Max Rubner Institute is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to join the Institute for Safety and Quality in Cereals in Detmold. This role focuses on supporting research into mycotoxins and contaminants in cereals, oilseeds, legumes, and pseudocereals, covering the entire value chain from raw material to finished product. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting research, performing sovereign tasks related to quality assessment (BEE), reporting and advising the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMLEH), and collaborating in national and international committees. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or Food Chemistry with strong practical experience in instrumental trace analysis, particularly using Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry. This three-year fixed-term, full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public welfare through scientific policy advice and research, requiring high proficiency in both German and English.

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or similar field with a focus on chemical analysis. Doctorate (PhD) is desirable.

Experience

  • Good practical experience in instrumental trace analysis using Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry
  • Good experience in scientific publishing
  • Practical experience in research administration and project management (desirable)
  • Fundamental experience in personnel leadership (desirable)
