Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role, based at the University of Augsburg's Chair of Model-based Environmental Exposure Sciences (MBEES), is crucial for the EU-HORIZON project PUREPOLIS, focusing on improving urban health through advanced data-driven tools. The core responsibility involves establishing and applying an agent-based model (e.g., MATSim or Python implementation) to map daily activities of populations in case studies in Nantes (France) and Valencia (Spain). The researcher will calculate population-wide environmental exposures (air pollutants, noise) and collaborate with epidemiologists to estimate health burdens. Key tasks also include integrating the model into a dynamic scenario tool for policy evaluation, presenting results at international conferences, and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a relevant natural science field, possesses proven expertise in agent-based modeling, and has strong programming skills, ideally in Python, offering an opportunity to contribute to high-level, interdisciplinary research in environmental health.
