Job Summary

This is a pivotal leadership role focused on advancing targeted small interfering RNA (siRNA)-based medicines from early research through clinical candidate selection within a major pharmaceutical company. The Senior Scientific Director will act as the organization’s primary subject matter expert, providing enterprise-level strategic leadership in siRNA therapeutics and driving drug discovery efforts. Responsibilities include steering complex studies, managing external collaborations (CROs and partners), mentoring junior scientists, and translating cutting-edge science into viable therapeutic opportunities for Cardiovascular/Renal and Oncology areas. The ideal candidate must possess a PhD in a relevant life science field, extensive industry experience in oligonucleotide pharmaceutical research, and a proven track record of taking scientific ideas from concept to preclinical validation, demonstrating strong matrix leadership and strategic alignment with R&D goals.

Required Skills

Education

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field is required.

Experience

  • Long-term industry experience in drug discovery, with a strong focus on siRNA and oligonucleotide pharmaceutical research
  • Proven track record in targeted siRNA related drug discovery or development from ideation to preclinical candidate selection
  • Experience in taking scientific ideas from concept to early therapeutic validation
  • Professional experience in matrix leadership and project management
  • Mentorship experience is valued
