Job Summary

This role as a Technical Laboratory Assistant at the Max Rubner-Institut's research station near Kiel involves crucial laboratory diagnostics focused on milk hygiene and quality, particularly concerning mastitis in dairy cows. Day-to-day responsibilities include the isolation and identification of mastitis pathogens using cultural, biochemical, and serological methods, performing antibiotic resistance tests via the Agar diffusion method (CLSI), and determining cell content using flow cytometry. The role also requires general laboratory duties such as sample preparation, solution mixing, and meticulous EDP-supported data logging and documentation. Candidates must possess completed vocational training as a Dairy Laboratory Technician or an equivalent qualification, coupled with practical experience handling microorganisms. This is an attractive opportunity to contribute to federal research in nutrition and food safety, offered as a fixed-term, part-time position (11.7 hours/week) until October 2026, governed by the TVöD Bund collective agreement.
