Job Summary

This fixed-term, part-time (65%) position at the Max Rubner Institute involves working on the federally funded "KaProBast" research project. The core focus is enhancing the nutritional value of potato products by integrating dietary fibers derived sustainably from oilseed and potato processing byproducts. Day-to-day responsibilities include practical work in the extraction technology center, characterizing these byproducts and extracts, and performing advanced instrumental analysis, specifically using HPLC (SEC, HPAEC) and GC-MS to analyze compounds like polysaccharides, phenolics, and contaminants. The role requires planning and organizing laboratory work, instructing technical staff, and performing computer-aided statistical evaluation (e.g., in R). The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Food Technology, possesses strong analytical skills, and is highly motivated to pursue a PhD, making this an excellent opportunity for scientific qualification within a federal research network.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or comparable qualification in Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Technology, or similar.

Experience

  • Knowledge/Experience in general and instrumental analytical chemistry, particularly HPLC, including computer-aided evaluation.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical experimental evaluation.
  • Professional experience in planning and conducting scientific research and preparing publications/reports (Desirable).
  • Practical experience in food analysis and food technology, especially extraction procedures (Desirable).
