Doctoral Researcher / PhD Biologist | Biologe (m/w/d)
Universität Heidelberg
Job Summary
This doctoral project, based in a collaborative laboratory between the Max Planck Society and Heidelberg University, focuses on addressing clinically relevant questions using advanced fundamental research methods. The core research investigates the extracellular matrix (ECM) and its controlled signaling pathways, particularly their role in fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will systematically investigate the functional significance of key molecules identified in prior, patent-pending work, using modern in vitro technologies. The primary goal is to define new molecular control points for fibrosis and develop highly specific modulators targeting fibrosis-inducing cells and tumor-supporting cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). This role requires a high degree of motivation and critical thinking, offering comprehensive training in mechanistic in-vitro analyses and translational research, with the potential to expand expertise into in-vivo mouse models to build a strong, versatile scientific profile.
