Job Summary

The Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) is seeking an IT System Architect to join the team at the globally unique Geodetic Observatory Wettzell. This critical role involves working on projects focused on the design and continuous development of the IT system architecture for radio telescopes, ensuring the stable operation of control and monitoring systems vital for satellite navigation. Day-to-day tasks include integrating various measurement, control, and data acquisition systems into a consistent and maintainable infrastructure, implementing robust security concepts for sensitive scientific assets, and performing monitoring and error analysis. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in a relevant technical or scientific field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Industrial Engineering) and is motivated to uphold standards like ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 within critical infrastructure.
