Job Summary

This Lab Technician role focuses on optimizing and operating advanced mesoscale imaging pipelines within the DFG-funded SyNergy Excellence Cluster. The core responsibilities involve the independent implementation of optical tissue clearing workflows for large biological samples, alongside comprehensive tissue preparation tasks such as immunolabeling, sectioning, and quality control for 3D imaging. You will routinely operate and maintain advanced imaging platforms, particularly light-sheet microscopy, and support standardized data acquisition. Additionally, the role involves preparing samples for molecular and proteomics analyses, managing biobanking activities under strict SOPs, and coordinating general lab logistics, including training students. Candidates must possess completed vocational training as a biological laboratory technician or equivalent, coupled with hands-on experience in tissue clearing and light-sheet microscopy. The position offers the chance to contribute to pioneering, high-profile research in 3D biology within a highly collaborative, international, and interdisciplinary team environment at the interface of LMU and Helmholtz Munich.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a biological laboratory technician or an equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with optical tissue clearing and fluorescence microscopy
  • Practical experience operating light-sheet microscopy systems
  • Experience with preparation and handling of large 3D imaging samples, including immunolabeling and mounting
  • Basic proficiency with image visualization and processing tools (Fiji/ImageJ, Imaris or arivis)
