Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for highly motivated researchers to join the Helmholtz School for Integrated Data Science in Environmental and Life Sciences (IDEAS) as a PhD candidate. The role involves conducting original, interdisciplinary research across 8 diverse projects, focusing on applying modern data science (e.g., machine learning, explainable AI, uncertainty quantification) to complex challenges in environmental and life sciences. Day-to-day tasks include deep-dive research, contributing to scientific publications, and active participation in structured IDEAS training, seminars, and cohort activities. Key requirements include a very good Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences), strong programming and data analysis skills, and excellent English proficiency.
