Job Summary
This role involves working as a Technical Assistant or Laboratory Technician at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI), focusing on the pathobiology of microorganisms and developing new natural product-based drugs for infectious diseases. Day-to-day tasks include culturing, identification, and preservation of bacteria and fungi, as well as testing and evaluating new drugs and extracts for their antimicrobial profiles using panel assays. A key responsibility is supporting the National Reference Center for Invasive Mycoses (NRZMyk) with molecular diagnostics (PCR/sequencing) and resistance testing of human pathogenic fungi. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as an MTA, BTA, or Laboratory Technician, possesses experience in highly sensitive molecular procedures, and demonstrates high reliability and meticulousness when handling pathogenic microorganisms and medical data. This position offers comprehensive training, involvement in anti-infective drug development, and the opportunity to work in a leading laboratory for diagnostics and epidemiology of invasive fungal infections.

Completed training as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or Laboratory Technician
Experience
- Experience in performing highly sensitive molecular procedures
- Experience in handling and differentiating pathogenic microorganisms (or willingness to learn)
- Experience or interest in Quality Management processes
