Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position in Berlin-Charlottenburg seeks an experienced Research Group Leader to spearhead advancements in Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MRT) within the National Metrology Institute (PTB). The successful candidate will assume technical and organizational leadership of a working group focused on Ultra-High Field (UHF) MRT, specifically continuing research into novel MR excitation and acquisition techniques for 7 Tesla and 14 Tesla systems. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating research goals, developing open-source MR sequences, implementing software solutions for RF excitations (3T to 14T), securing external funding, and publishing scientific results. The role requires a PhD, deep expertise in MR sequence development and UHF-MRT, and excellent programming skills in languages like Python, Matlab, or C++. This role offers the opportunity to define world-leading measurement standards in an international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master/Diploma) with PhD in Physics, Informatics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or comparable field.

Experience

  • Documented independent publication activity in the field
  • Professional experience in MR sequence development
  • Professional experience in Ultra-High Field Magnetic Resonance Tomography (UHF-MRT)
  • Professional experience in measuring or simulating high-frequency fields/pulses
  • Experience in supervising and guiding students and doctoral candidates
  • Experience in acquiring external funding and coordinating projects
