Job Summary

The INM-Leibniz Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to drive the digitalization efforts within the Engineered Living Materials (ELM) community, focusing specifically on the MaterialVital Hub network. This role involves developing code to create semantically annotated data structures and establishing robust metadata schemas for synthetic biology methodologies, ensuring transferability across electronic LabBooks and data platforms. A key responsibility is leading the development of an ELM-dedicated ontology to enhance interoperability within the collaborative network, including the Galaxy Community Hub and MaterialDigital Platform. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in bioinformatics, synthetic biology, or a related field, and possesses experience in automated workflows for large data analysis (e.g., using Galaxy) and the analysis of omics or imaging data. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an emergent research field, providing high visibility within national and international SynBio and ELM networks, supported by an international, professional working environment.

Required Skills

Education

PhD degree in bioinformatics, systems biology, synthetic biology, biotechnology or related disciplines.

Experience

  • Professional experience in automated workflows for large data analysis (using Galaxy or similar tools)
  • Professional experience in the automated analysis of omics and/or imaging data
  • Experience working with and promoting the digitalization of the Engineered Living Materials (ELM) community
