Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role focuses on driving the digitalization of Engineered Living Materials (ELM) research within the MaterialVital Hub, a collaborative network funded by the BMFTR. The successful candidate will develop code for semantically annotated data structures, create metadata schemes for ELM research methods, and lead the development of an ELM-dedicated ontology to ensure interoperability across the network. The position requires a PhD in materials science or a related discipline, ideally combining experimental research with data-driven methods. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of materials science and synthetic biology, applying Data Science expertise to a cutting-edge research field, and gaining high visibility within a growing national and international ELM community.

Experience

  • PhD degree in materials science/engineering or related disciplines
  • Experience as experimental materials researcher in combination with modelling or data-driven methods (ideal)
  • Previous experience as data steward (advantageous)
  • Previous work within NFDI Consortia or MaterialDigital Platform (advantageous)
  • Experience in the ELM or the biomaterials field (beneficial)
