Job Summary

This doctoral position at Goethe-University Frankfurt involves cutting-edge research in the Gottschalk and Frangakis Labs, focusing on the structural organization and assembly of gap junctions (GJs) in association with stomatin ring complexes. The successful candidate will utilize the powerful model system *C. elegans* to address fundamental neurobiological questions, specifically how GJs and stomatins interact and facilitate GJ formation or recycling. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing *C. elegans* strains for in vivo labeling, preparing thin lamellae from frozen specimens using a brand new Hydra Bio Plasma FIB instrument, and performing subsequent cryo-ET analysis on an in-house Titan Krios Cryo transmission electron microscope. The role requires an MSc in Biology or a related field, coupled with expertise in electron microscopy sample preparation, molecular biology, and fluorescence imaging. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the Cluster of Excellence SCALE, providing ample training and a stimulating environment for basic science.
