Job Summary

The State Office for Environment in Rhineland-Palatinate is seeking an IT System Administrator to join their Central Services division in Mainz. This role is crucial for maintaining and advancing the agency's IT landscape, covering both infrastructure conception and daily operations. Key responsibilities include contributing to the design and implementation of the IT infrastructure, managing client systems (MS Windows 11) and server environments (physical and virtual, MS Windows Server 2016+), and providing 1st and 2nd level user support. You will also handle user and rights management, software distribution (e.g., Matrix42 Empirum), patch management, and the planning and implementation of IT security measures, including firewall management (e.g., CheckPoint). The ideal candidate holds a relevant Bachelor's degree in an IT field and possesses at least one year of professional experience, coupled with fluent German language skills and strong scripting abilities (e.g., PowerShell). This position offers the stability of a public sector, unlimited contract, flexible working hours, and opportunities for mobile working.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university education (Bachelor / Diplom FH) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Communications Engineering, or comparable IT-related fields.

Experience

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience
  • Current and proven knowledge of MS Windows 11 desktop operating system
  • Current and proven knowledge of MS Windows Server 2016+ operating systems (including Active Directory, Group Policies, NTFS permissions)
  • Proven experience in software distribution and service management (e.g., Matrix42 Empirum)
  • Proven experience with IT security programs and firewalls
