Job Summary

This fixed-term, part-time PhD position (65% FTE) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Behavioral Neuroscience research group, focusing on the multifaceted functions of the cerebellum, particularly its involvement in neurological and psychiatric disorders. The core project investigates specific orphan GPCRs (G Protein-Coupled Receptors) expressed in the cerebellum, aiming to identify their ligands and physiological roles using a combination of in vitro and in vivo approaches. Day-to-day tasks involve rigorous molecular biology (cloning, PCR), advanced cell culture (transfection, generating stable cell lines), biochemical assays (Western blotting, mass spectrometry), and complex animal experiments, including behavioral analysis and in vivo electrophysiology (Purkinje cell activity). The ideal candidate holds an excellent Master’s degree in Neurobiology/Neuroscience, possesses strong English skills, and has practical experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal experimentation. This role is attractive for scientifically enthusiastic individuals seeking to conduct independent, high-impact research within a collaborative academic setting, providing crucial insights into neurodegenerative diseases.
