Job Summary

This role involves leading or scientifically contributing to the international Interreg Wetlanders project, focused on transnational cooperation in moor and wetland protection across Northwest Europe. The successful candidate will manage the project technically, including coordination, administration, reporting, and evaluation, while planning and implementing restoration measures in the project area within the Oldenburg district. Key daily tasks include developing and executing targeted restoration efforts to enhance FFH habitat types, water regimes, and biodiversity, alongside construction supervision and extensive communication with local, regional, and international stakeholders. Essential qualifications include a university degree in relevant ecological or geohydrology fields and proven experience in conservation measure implementation. This is a unique opportunity for an engaged professional with fluent German and English skills to contribute passionately to nature conservation within NABU Lower Saxony, offering independent work and the potential for contract extension beyond the initial term ending June 2029.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Landscape Ecology, Geohydrology, Biology, or comparable studies with a focus on Nature Conservation or Geohydrology.

Experience

  • Experience in planning and implementing nature conservation measures
  • Professional experience in moor restoration (Advantageous)
  • Practical experience in biotope management (Advantageous)
  • Experience in faunistic or floristic surveys (Advantageous)
  • Knowledge and experience in the procurement of construction and services (Advantageous)
